The Data Protection Officer (DPO), as outlined in article 5th and 41 of the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais [Brazilian General Data Protection Regulation, LGPD], is the individual appointed by the controller and operator to work as a communication channel between the controller, the data subjects, and Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados [ANPD, the Brazilian Data Protection Authority].

The legal responsibilities of an Officer are as follows:
I – Receive complaints and communications from the data subjects; provide clarifications and take measures;
II – Receive communications and inform the data protection provisions of the National Authority and other organizations that are responsible for making inspections on the matter;
III – Provide guidance to employees and contractors of Helder Nascimento Advogados on the practices to be adopted to protect personal data;
IV – Organize events and training sessions on data protection, privacy, and information security in the firms;
V – Execute further tasks determined by Helder Nascimento Advogados or outlined in supplementary rules;
VI – Coordinate the LGPD implementation in the firms.
